HOW TO MAKE VEGAN NAAN
Fluffy and delicious
This vegan naan is fluffy, soft, buttery and easy to make from scratch! You need just a few simple ingredients to make it for a perfect side dish. Serve it as a side dish for curries and stews, or eat with a dip of your choice.
Firstly, prepare the ingredients! It helps to have them on hand before you start cooking.
Proof the yeast
Add plant based milk, yeast, salt and sugar to a mixing bowl and stir together well. Set aside for 10 minutes.
Mix the dry ingredients
Stir together flour, baking powder and garlic powder.
Mix the wet ingredients
Add vegan yogurt to the yeast mixture.
Mix the dough
Add the dry ingredients to the wet, stir together, and at the last minute add the melted vegan butter.
Knead and proof
Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then cover and allow to proof for an hour.
Shape the dough
Divide the dough into 4 equal sections, then roll them into balls, cover and set aside for 15 minutes more.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface into thin tapered rectangles.
Cook the naan
Cook for a few minutes on each side, until golden and crispy.
Serve and enjoy immediately, or store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5-6 days.
